Ryan’s Vineyard may be one
of the finest Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in all of Napa Valley. It is
located just north of the city of Napa in the center of both the world-renowned
Napa Valley Appellation and the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley
Appellation. It is between two of Napa Valley’s most famous
wineries: Trefethen Vineyards and Monticello Vineyards. What makes
this vineyard so special is that it is the perfect location for producing
Sauvignon Blanc….ideal soils, warm days and cool, foggy nights…all brought
about the vineyard’s proximity to the San Francisco Bay.
Rather than trying to chase the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon train, we planted our vineyard to Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Musque and Semillion: a fact that allows us to focus our every resource we have toward attaining an idealized expression of these noble varieties. Our mission is to produce the best ultra-premium winegrapes possible from Ryan’s Vineyard for a select group of wineries and winemakers who appreciate the value of long-term relationships and mutual economic success. And I think you will see further on in the website that we believe that we are well on our way to accomplishing our mission. The Sauvignon Blanc wines made from our grapes are not “racy or grassy” like so many foreign Sauvignon Blanc wines that the “experts” give high rating to; rather Ryan’s Sauvignon Blanc wines have a bright, soft, style and can be drunk anytime, anywhere and with everyone.
We named the vineyard after our son Ryan, who grew up here and spent his youth playing with his friends and walking the vineyard with his dog, Emma. Ryan is now in college, but it is hard not to look out over the vineyard and still see him chasing Emma through the vines. And Emma is the perfect vineyard dog, a pure white Labrador who spends her days “working” the vineyard and sharing lunch with our vineyard team. We know she has had a good day when she comes home with drops of taco sauce on her head and plops down on her bed to rest.
Please stay awhile and look around our site to learn more about this unique location and how we do what we do. And when you are ready, don't hesitate to contact me for a tour of the vineyard or more information of any kind.
